Ninja exhibitions too?! The International Spy Museum, a must-visit for spy enthusiasts

Washington D.C., the capital of the United States, is a strategic location where major government institutions such as the White House and the United States Capitol are situated. These institutions are not only known as important government centers but also popular tourist spots. Moreover, the city is renowned for its museums, especially the Smithsonian museums.

The Renovated International Spy Museum – May 2019

The International Spy Museum was reopened in May 2019 after a major renovation. It is a museum dedicated to the secretive world of spies, originally located in front of the Smithsonian Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C. However, in May 2019, it moved to a huge facility at L’Enfant Plaza on the south side of the National Mall, making it even more prominent.

Immerse Yourself as a Spy during Your Visit!

You can immerse yourself as a spy during your visit! Upon entering, you are given a card with your cover identity as a spy, including your spy name, occupation, and hometown. Inside the museum, you are encouraged to remember and act accordingly to your spy persona, and you are also given a mission, allowing you to fully experience the thrill of being a spy.

Experience the Thrilling World of Spies – Fascinating Exhibits

The museum offers a fascinating array of exhibits. On the exhibition floor, you will find displays about famous spies from around the world, such as Dmitry Bystroletov, a renowned Soviet-era spy, and Mata Hari, who operated as a double spy for France and Germany. Additionally, various tools used by spies for information gathering and surveillance equipment are showcased in another section. The disguise and disguise tools section is particularly interesting, as you can compare before and after photos of spies in disguise, revealing just how unrecognizable they become after transformation.

Surprising Inclusion of Japanese Ninjas!

To the surprise of many, the museum also features an exhibition on Japanese ninjas, representing an example of Japanese spies. While some aspects of the displayed ninja tools may differ from the real ones, it is still an intriguing and cool presentation that is worth exploring when you visit.

For Spy Movie and Drama Fans – A Thrilling Experience!

For fans of spy movies and dramas, the International Spy Museum is sure to be an exhilarating experience. Besides the exhibits, the museum offers spy mission experiences and a unique souvenir corner featuring spy-themed merchandise.

A Massive and Fascinating Facility – Plan for More Than One Day

The museum is so vast and packed with content that one day might not be enough for spy enthusiasts to see it all. Therefore, I highly recommend visiting and exploring this massive and fascinating facility.

So, if you’re a spy enthusiast or just someone who enjoys spy movies and stories, the International Spy Museum in Washington D.C. is definitely worth a visit!
